About Overland Park's
Marathon Mixed Martial Arts Academy

Marathon MMA opened in the summer of 2020. We have focused on building two things: a high level positive training environment and a strong community built around an encouraging culture.

At Marathon MMA & BJJ we focus on self improvement on and off the mats through the practice of martial arts! Helping our members cultivate a winning mindset and embracing life’s adversities, building community and clapping for each other’s wins in life, while encouraging each other through our hardships. You can always expect Good Vibes and Big Energy!

We have strong competition teams in both MMA and BJJ, with several professional fighters and even UFC athletes, but competition is not required at Marathon. Competitors and non-competitors all train together as one big encouraging and supportive family.

Founder and head coach Trey Ogden is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and currently competes in the UFC lightweight division. He has also gold medaled in the IBJJF Black Belt division. He is a lifelong martial arts student, serving to help all members of the academy improve their lives, confidence, health, and fitness through martial arts practice. Trey believes in using martial arts to improve people’s lives and build community.

Trey Odgen is a a life long martial artist who has dedicated himself to finding a systematized approach to mastering MMA. Whether your goal is to become a world class fighter/grappler or if you just want to find a fun outlet for physical activity, this is the place for you. It's not an intimidating environment like other gyms can be. Everyone is welcoming regardless of your skill level or experience. The facilities are spotless. I’ve been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since November of 2010 and at Marathon since July of 2012. Throughout my time training at Marathon I’ve had several fantastic coaches and mentors to learn from. In November of 2016 Trey Ogden took over our Jiu Jitsu program. For me personally, Trey has been a great addition as a coach with a fantastic energy about him and is a true martial artist. His well thought through and practiced system of teaching and employing Jiu Jitsu is visible in all his students. His classes are full of material for all experience levels.
